Erin’s passion and commitment to this yoga will be apparent the moment you enter her class. Erin truly believes in the relationship between effort and outcome. She feels that in order to reach your full potential, you must be willing to step out of your comfort zone. As a teacher, Erin witnessed the power that Bikram Yoga has to improve lives. She saw sick people become healthy, angry people become kind, depressed people become hopeful, and injured people become pain free.
Leah began practicing Bikram yoga in 2010 and quickly fell in love with the series. Over time, she noticed positive mental, emotional and physical changes. Now she is more optimistic, able to stay calm in stressful situations, and is healthier inside and out! Leah gave birth to a healthy baby girl in September 2014 and practiced at Pure Hot Yoga St. Louis throughout her pregnancy. She says yoga helped ease the side effects of pregnancy and the pain of labor and delivery.
When she is not in the hot room or working the front desk, Leah keeps busy by hand painting murals and working on photography. She enjoys traveling, seeing live bands, going to art shows and spending time with her friends, family and her 2 daughters.
Catherine took her first few Bikram classes in the summer of 2005, but shied away from the practice because of her unhealthy smoking habit. “I felt like Pigpen from the peanuts cartoon whenever I walked in the room.” After about a year, Catherine finally quit smoking for good and began a somewhat regular practice of Bikram Yoga in July of 2006.
As she grew to know and love the yoga and began to discover its wide array of benefits on so many levels of being, her practice became more consistent, and she went on to complete teacher training in June, 2007. She taught her first class on June 19 – the one year anniversary of the day she quit smoking and continues to teach in St. Louis.
Mary began practicing Bikram yoga at the suggestion of a friend. She had been looking to try a yoga class and the hot room intrigued her. She loved that you could practice as a beginner in the same class as veteran students, It helped her learn to control her breathing and now she can run more than she walks when she does 5K’s, 10K’s and half-marathons. Prior to yoga she always ran out of breath. She recently retired after 35 years in health care as a respiratory therapist. Now when she is not at Pure Hot Yoga working the front desk or practicing, you can probably find her out on a local golf course.
Charles began practicing yoga in 2000 practicing power yoga (at a local gym) and various other styles (at Moksha Yoga in Chicago) before finding Bikram yoga in 2009. He was working hard to get back into shape after hitting a maximum weight of 240 pounds and began practicing to train for a 2 day 200 mile bicycle ride for charity.
Taryn was born and raised in St. Louis and currently lives in St. Charles with her fiancé. Aside from Pure Hot Yoga, she enjoys working out, traveling, spending time with friends and family and spoiling her two nephews. She attended University of Missouri-St. Louis and received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2010 and is now back in school working on her Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing. When not teaching yoga, Taryn takes care of her nephews, works as a bartender, and goes to school…so needless to say she is a busy yogini!
JJ Jones-Loui is not a native of St. Louis but has lived here almost 12 years now with her husband Kip Loui.
When not at the studio, JJ enjoys hiking, making and creating jewelry (Her very own L.I.T. Creations are available for purchase at the studio!), playing harmonica and singing with her husband in their band, The High Dives.

Kara began her Bikram Yoga practice when the studio first opened in 2003. She is a huge advocate for animals that are in need of rescue, and regularly fosters dogs that need a forever home. Don’t be surprised if you see some of her fur babies at the front desk from time-to-time!

Natalie only intended to try Bikram Yoga.
In a rather serendipitous way, Natalie’s yoga teacher at a YMCA gym endorsed Bikram Yoga into her awareness.
“Bikram Yoga is like no other experience you will ever have. So, if you ever have a chance,” the teacher recommended, “grab a friend and try it.” To drive it in further, the teacher added with some firmness “Just try it.”
